Jury finds city man guilty of assault, robbery
WARREN — A Trumbull County jury has convicted a Warren man on charges of aggravated robbery, felonious assault and trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present.
Craig S. Ison Jr., 42, of Orchard Court NE, faces up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced Oct. 29 by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald J. Rice.
The robbery and felonious assault charges stem from a July 11 incident in the 100 block of Main Avenue SW in downtown Warren, where Ison assaulted and robbed a 72-year-old woman.
The victim, an employee of a law firm inside the Huntington Bank Building, was attacked just before 11 a.m. as she entered the building.
According to prosecutors, Ison pushed the woman through a glass display case, causing a cut to her head, and continued to punch her while she was on the ground. She gave him cash to stop the beating.
Police recovered $24 from Ison that was stained with what appeared to be blood. The victim testified at trial, identifying Ison as her attacker.
The woman received injuries to her head and back.
He stood trial on the trespass charge in connection to an April 7 incident at a Tod Avenue SW home. During that incident, prosecutors said Ison was found in the living room with one hand down his pants and the other on a 4-year-old girl. The child’s mother and grandmother forced Ison from the home.
Ison was tried on the separate incidents at the same trial.
