Trumbull ESC board names new treasurer
NILES — The Trumbull County Educational Service Center Governing Board has named Stacy Foster as its new treasurer, effective Aug. 1.
The board at their meeting Monday accepted the resignation of Foster as assistant treasurer on July 31. She will begin her duties as treasurer the next day.
Superintendent Michael Hanshaw said Foster was granted a five-year contract August 2023 to July 2028 at a salary of $92,000.
Foster will replace Treasurer Lori Simione, who is retiring July 31 with 35 years of service.
The board also accepted the retirement resignation of Kathy Vilsack, pupil services director, effective July 31. She had served for 40 years.
Hanshaw said Vilsack oversees the special education department that includes staff and programs who serve students with special needs.
Simione handled the educational center’s finances and worked with state auditors when the books were being checked, She also has helped many local school district treasurers over the years.
“They have both done a great job for the TCESC. We will miss them,” Hanshaw said.
The board also accepted the retirement resignation of Millicent King effective June 30. She worked as a secretary for the center.
APPRENTICESHIP
The board approved a carpentry preapprenticeship program as a non-career tech education worked-based learning program that satisfies federal and state requirements.
Hanshaw said the pre-apprenticeship program is housed at the back of Lordstown Elementary School and was the former Gordon D. James Career Center.
The program began last August with a junior class and this August will have a new junior class and the current students who will be seniors and the first to complete the program in 2024.
The program runs from August to May.
The board also accepted a $54,477 “homeless grant” that provides assistance for children who need school supplies, supplemental education services and housing where needed.
In other action, the board:
• Approved three-year contracts of 216 days effective Aug. 1 for Brice Harris, Ed Mackiewicz, Jenny Pancake, Amy Rossler, Laurie Trotter and Heather Wukelich, all as curriculum and instruction supervisors; Gerlinda Melillo, preschool supervisor; Teresa Parker, special education supervisor; Melanie Shipman, supervisor of psychology / psychologist; and Kate Kellar and Virginia Shank, public relations;
• Approved three-year, 260-days contracts for Stacy Faller, accounting support specialist, and Laurie Ruane, administrative assistant;
• Approved a one-year, 201-day contract for Amanda Mancino, social worker;
• Approved a two-year agreement to provide technology services to Champion schools from July 2023 to June 2025.
