TCTC honors 2022 hall of fame inductees
CHAMPION — The Trumbull Career and Technical Center has inducted its newest members into the 2022 Hall of Fame.
Superintendent Jason Gray said the inductions are something he looks forward to each year.
“This allows us to honor staff and students who have not only done great things while they were here at TCTC but have gone on to do great things after they have left here. We are very proud of what they have done,” he said.
Honorees are:
• Larry Crawford, who served as an academic supervisor at TCTC from 2002 to 2018, was honored for his many contributions to excellence in educational leadership and significant contributions to TCTC through public relations. Crawford started the student recognition breakfast. Crawford worked as a principal and teacher at several area schools before coming to TCTC.
“He was a wonderful mentor to many of us,” said Gray, who years ago was hired by Crawford as a teacher at Lordstown schools.
• Jarrod Ladd of Niles is a 2011 graduate of TCTC in the public safety program and has had a successful career in aviation. Ladd served in the U.S. Marines and worked for Hollywood Gaming as surveillance and security shift manager. He graduated from Southern Utah University, receiving an aviation degree and is now employed there as an aviation instructor.
• Tyler Spicher of Howland is a 2015 graduate of TCTC in the web design program and earned top honors and was ranked fifth in the nation in computer animation competitions. He works in the field of 3D design. He graduated with a degree in visual effects and has served as an adviser to the TCTC computer animation team via Zoom.
• Tony Thomas of Liberty, instructor of culinary arts, was a 2011 graduate of the TCTC restaurant services program. He graduated from culinary school at the Indiana University in Pennsylvania and worked as a professional chef at a resort in Pennsylvania and is now a TCTC instructor.
In other business, Board President Cheryl Basista said TCTC was also successful in being among 600 schools in the world to earn the Apple Distinguished School Award. She said this is the third time the center has received the recognition. Officials said in 2010, the center went from books to iPads for learning.
Gray said the technology-based learning has helped the center earn top scores in student instruction.
