Falls police probe possible break-in

NEWTON FALLS — Police are investigating a possible break-in Saturday at a home in the 5100 block of Oak Knoll Avenue that involved a woman inside chasing a person with a sword.

A resident told police he was in his dark garage about 2 a.m. when he felt what he thought was a punch to the side of his face, a report states. He said the intruder then ran out of the rear garage door.

A woman in the home told police she was in the bedroom around the same time when she heard a noise. When she went into the living room, she was slapped by an intruder, the report states.

The woman told police she chased the intruder out with a sword, the report states. Police checked a wooded area nearby, but did not see any footprints.
