Motorcyclist dies in Champion crash

CHAMPION — A motorcyclist from Warren died from injuries in a Monday afternoon collision with an SUV, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Patrick J. Riley Jr., 53, of Warren, was driving a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on State Road near Nutwood Avenue when the bike hit the left rear of an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Jerry L. Wilson, 72 , of Warren.

The motorcycle overturned and hit a mailbox off the left side of the road, the patrol states. Riley was thrown from the bike when it overturned.

Riley succumbed to his injuries at Trumbull Regional Medical Center, according to the patrol. He was not wearing a helmet, the report states.

Wilson and his passenger were not injured.
