Man killed in Parkman crash

PARKMAN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash Saturday that left one man dead and a boy seriously injured in Geauga County.

The crash happened at 5:35 p.m. Saturday when a car being driven on U.S. 422 struck a horse-drawn buggy from behind, causing the two passengers to be ejected from the buggy.

A patrol report states Stephen Hostetler, 33, of Garrettsville, was traveling west on U.S. 422. His 9-year-old son was a passenger in the buggy.

A Hyundai Elantra, driven by 34-year-old Steffon Baker, of Warren, struck the buggy from behind. Hostetler died at the scene and his son was taken to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center with serious injuries. Baker was not injured, the patrol report states.
