Liberty man charged with burglary of homes

LIBERTY — An East Montrose Street man was arrested by township police on burglary and resisting arrest charges Saturday after several neighbors reported someone going house to house trying to break in.

Christopher Dehner, 46, appeared via video before Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey D. Adler on Monday. Bond for Dehner was set at $10,000 and if he makes the bond, he will be placed under electronically monitored house arrest, according to the judge. A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Thursday before Adler, court records state.

According to a Trumbull County 911 report, a tall man with red hair, wearing an orange shirt and khaki shorts, was found in a garage around 10:50 a.m. in the 200 block of East Montrose Street. The report states the man was going house to house and had no weapons, but was keeping his hands in his pockets.

Police reportedly tried to apprehend the man as he was pushing open a door of a home. The man, who was reported to be under the influence, had resisted officers, the report states.
