Fire crews work quick to quell blaze at Tod Avenue home

WARREN — Firefighters worked fast to fight a blaze in the 200 block of Tod Avenue NW Tuesday afternoon.

Video posted on social media showed crews responding to the blaze in the upper portions of the two-story home at 259 Tod Ave. NW within minutes. Black smoke was pouring out of the roof in the rear as well as the first and second floors, the report states. A 911 report stated everyone was out of the home within two minutes of the original call at 3:04 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

By 3:20 p.m., the blaze was knocked down and under control. An alternate hydrant was used at Buckeye and Tod Avenue because one engine reported the hydrant at Stiles and Tod Avenue had locked up. Traffic was blocked on Tod Avenue near the high-rise at Buckeye Street NW while fire crews were on the scene, the report states.

The Red Cross was contacted by 4:10 p.m. to help the family that was living in the home, which has been boarded up, the report states.
