Auction set for Howland school
HOWLAND — The former North Road Intermediate School and its contents will be auctioned at 1 p.m May 4.
McGuire Auctioneers will facilitate the auction, which will take place both in person at the building, 863 North Road SE, and online, according to Howland Local Schools officials.
In addition to the building, kitchen items, including a grill, warming oven, and wash station, among others, will be auctioned.
McGuire Auctioneers also lists playground equipment, school supplies such as copiers, air conditioning units, folding chairs and desks, and several instruments as part of the auction. Several school buses also will be sold.
The Howland Board of Education approved the auction of the building earlier this year. Howland Local School District Treasurer Samatha Pochedly said proceeds will go toward funding a new high school auditorium.
North Road Intermediate has been out of use for about 2 1/2 years, since fifth grade moved to Howland Middle School. The building is about 43,600 square feet with around 25 classrooms, a full-size gym with stage, library, kitchen and administrative offices, and sits on about 12.25 acres of land, according to McGuire Auctioneers.
