Man charged in disturbance

WARREN — A 19-year-old Youngstown man was arrested after Warren police investigated a domestic assault early Tuesday at a Southern Boulevard NW apartment.

Demonte D. Atkins of East Philadelphia Avenue, Youngstown, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of aggravated menacing, making a terroristic threat, carrying a concealed weapon and domestic violence.

Warren Municipal Judge Terry Ivanchak set Atkins’ bond at $25,000 and ordered him not to have contact with the victim. A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers were dispatched to the apartment at 5:36 a.m. Tuesday to investigate a couple arguing. Officers overheard the man threaten to kill the woman, the report states.

Officers broke in to find the man holding the woman against the wall by his left forearm on her neck, the report states. The man complied to officers’ commands and was taken into custody without incident. Officers found a Glock 23 pistol in the man’s pants pocket, the report states.
