2 communities name new fire chiefs
Two Trumbull County communities have named new fire chiefs.
In Bloomfield, trustees named David Peterson as fire chief following the retirement of Matt Baker. Peterson has 29 years as a firefighter and 17 as an emergency medical technician.
Trustees said that 40 years ago, Peterson’s father, Roger Peterson Sr., was the township trustee who made the motion to start the fire department and today, one of his sons is a fire chief and the other, Roger Peterson, is a township trustee.
In Southington, trustees named William Scott Bower as the new fire chief, replacing Chris Plott, who retired in December after serving the past three years as chief.
Bower was sworn in at a recent trustees organizational meeting.
Both chiefs are part time.
