WRTA Holiday Lights honor 18 charities

YOUNGSTOWN — Some 18 charity organizations will be featured this holiday season on Western Reserve Transit Authority buses as the transportation company marks its Holiday Lights campaign.

The kickoff of the campaign will be Tuesday morning as the name and logo of each organization chosen will be placed on the back of selected buses.

WRTA Executive Director Dean Harris said the authority’s riders helped pick the groups to be honored this year.

“Through our riders, we’ve connected with the organizations that light up the Valley with their good work 365 days per year,” Harris said.“We see the good work they do in the faces of our riders. And we are pleased to do a small part in recognizing that work.”

The organizations being recognized in 2021 are: Animal Charity of Ohio; Buster’s Brigade; City Kids Care; Compass Family and Community Services; Down Syndrome Association of the Valley; Gateways to Better Living; Help Network of NEO (Crisis and Suicide Hotline); Mercy Health Resource Mother’s Program; Potential Development; Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County; Project MKC (formerly Making Kids Count); Rich Center for Autism; Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley; Sight for All United; Students Motivated by the Arts; Ursuline Sisters HIV / AIDS Ministries; Youngstown Community Food Center / Gleaners Food Bank; and New Day Recovery.
