WHAT: Village council meeting Monday

PRESENT: John Baryak, Tesa Spletzer, Brian Kropp and Adam Zimmerman

ABSENT: Sandra Breymaier


• Approved 4-0 providing funds to the Newton Falls Joint Fire District for getting the staff fire uniforms;

• Approved having the auditor of state conduct a performance audit of the village and report back to council within a week of obtaining the information as to the costs involved and other information pertinent to the request;

• Pulled from the agenda for review by Law Director Joseph Fritz legislation on requiring all requests for legislation to be prepared for placement on an agenda have the author’s name, time and date of original request and also time and date of receipt of the request by village clerk. Fritz said the matter needs to be reviewed because it changes and modifies council rules;

• Heard from Village Manager David Lynch that members of the Heritage Accord are working on the community center with cleaning and removal of mold. He said a fundraiser dinner on the covered bridge is being planned;

• Heard from resident Thomas Colosimo, vice president of the Newton Falls Area Commerce Association, requesting if two village employees could take part in beautification and maintenance updates in “neglected areas of the town.” He said the condition of some parts of the community is concerning.
