Austintown man gets probation in assault in Niles

WARREN — An Austintown man on Tuesday received five years of probation on an aggravated assault conviction in which he hit a Niles man with a crowbar.

Nino Alan Michael Mayle, 21, of South Raccoon Road, pleaded guilty to a bill of information on June 8. Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Logan said he was giving Mayle a break in a case that originally was charged in Niles Municipal Court as an aggravated robbery.

“I was right on the edge of sending you to prison,” Logan said.

Mayle, before sentencing, said he was extremely remorseful for the Dec. 10, 2020, incident. Logan said a protective order remains in effect so Mayle can not have any contact with the victim for five years. Logan also ordered restitution of $1,500 be given to the victim and Mayle be enrolled in an anger management program.
