WHAT: City council meeting Monday

PRESENT: Reynald Paolone, Jeff Kay, Thomas Grumley, John Moliterno, Keith Schubert, Lily Martuccio, Sam Zirafi and Mayor James Melfi

ABSENT: Mark Standohar


• Approved seeking bids for summer street repaving with bids to be opened in early July. Sections of the following streets are to be paved: Avon, Park, Washington, Joan, Rush, Wellman, Elruth, Illinois, Juanita, Broadview, Belgrade, Robinwood, and Lasalle avenues and High, Smithsonian, South Davis and Shelby streets;

• Gave first reading to placing a renewal of the 0.5-mill, five-year recreation levy on the November election ballot for parks and recreation;

• Heard from Zirafi who suggested looking into tree harvesting at the Upper Girard Lake property;

• Heard from Melfi who talked about completion of additional sidewalks on streets near the high school;

• Heard of Safety / Service Director Jerry Lambert’s plans to paint lines on streets, including Liberty Street, U.S. Route 422 and Shannon Road and lines for handicapped parking on Market Street;

• Set a caucus session on finances for 6:30 p.m. June 27. Council also is set to act on distribution of income tax collections for 2021.
