Portion of bike trail in Bristol closed
WARREN — Rain washed out a portion of the Trumbull County MetroParks bike trail in Bristol, forcing its indefinite closure until approximately $250,000 is obtained to design and carry out a fix, said Zachary Svette, executive director of the park system.
The closure interrupts the Western Reserve Greenway Trail, part of the 100-mile Great Ohio Lake-to-River Greenway that runs from Ashtabula through Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties to East Liverpool.
The closure is between Mahan Denman and Hyde-Oakfield roads in Bristol. The area is blocked off and users of the trail should avoid the area and use the detour to avoid risk of injury, Svette said.
The detour, traveling north to south on the trail, is Mahan Denman to Oakfield North to Hyde-Oakfield, Svette said.
