N. Bloomfield man guilty in hit-skip
Charged in 2020 hit-skip
WARREN — A North Bloomfield man Monday pleaded guilty to charges connected to a January 2020 hit-skip accident that injured a woman.
Brad M. Bailey, 37, 7123 Oakfield North Road, faces a maximum 12 years in prison when he’s sentenced later by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Peter J. Kontos.
Bailey, who remains free on bond, had registered a 0.19 blood-alcohol content after the Jan. 20, 2020, accident that occurred at North Leavitt and Parkman roads NW, prosecutors said. He pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated vehicular assault and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence. A charge of leaving the scene of an accident was dismissed, prosecutors said.
According to a Trumbull County 911 log, a woman who called dispatchers said another motorist struck her car and the driver ran off down North River Road.
The dispatcher said the driver appeared to be stumbling as he walked into the woods behind the old Copperweld Steel plant. The man was spotted running in and out of the wooded area before being found by Warren Township police, who tracked his footprints. He was taken to Trumbull Regional Medical Center for a blood test, the report states.
