Grant to pay for water valve fixes

NILES — The Ohio Public Works Commission has granted the city a $200,000 emergency grant for water valve replacement.

According to a press release, the funding will be used to replace two 24-inch gate water valves. The valve replacement will upgrade the water system in the city and meet Ohio Environmental Protection Agency valve exercising requirements.

The project is estimated to cost $395,000 and the remaining funds will come from a local match, the release states. The project is scheduled tentatively for June.
