Fight in park leads to arrests

Staff report

WARREN — A couple was seen fighting outside of a vehicle in Perkins Park, and each was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

Dale K. Gibson, 48, and Tammy D. Young, 43, both of Madison, each are charged with domestic violence after police officers witnessed them pushing and shoving at one another shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday. Both were taken to Trumbull County jail.

Gibson pleaded not guilty to domestic violence during a hearing before Judge Terry Ivanchak. He was assigned a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.

Young pleaded not guilty during a hearing before Judge Thomas Gysegem to charges of having drug paraphernalia and domestic violence. She was assigned a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.

Young faces the drug paraphernalia charge due to officers finding a white powdery substance and a glass meth pipe in her purse.

The couple was fighting over a federal stimulus check that later was found in the vehicle. The check was not written to either of them.

Young told officers the check belonged to someone who is in prison. She has been going to his house, picking up his mail and taking it back to her house.

She was advised that an additional charge may be filed after the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation analyzes the white powder.
