WARREN — A Warren man is sentenced to 10 years to life in prison for the rape of a 9-year-old girl known to him.

Larry Lee Cole Sr., 66, of Adams Street NE, pleaded guilty to two charges of felony rape that carry the potential life sentence. Cole would be eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 10 years in prison.

Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge W. Wyatt McKay ordered that Cole be labeled a Tier 3 sex offender, which would require him — if he is released from prison — to register his whereabouts with the sheriff’s office every three months for the rest of his life.

According to assistant Prosecutor Diane Barber, the sexual assaults took place on March 9, 2020. The victim, who is now 10, declined to deliver a victim’s impact statement. Prosecutors accused Cole of performing two sex acts on the girl, including intercourse.

The defendant also did not say anything prior to the judge pronouncing the sentence.

Cole previously has been booked into the Trumbull County jail nine times, jail records show.

On one of those charges, Cole was convicted on June 9, 2004, of one count of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, which is a third-degree felony. Common Pleas Judge Andrew Logan sentenced Cole to serve two years in Lorain Correctional Institute and to register as a sexual offender for that offense, court records show.
