Valley shares in HUD’s allocation

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded nearly $7 million total to housing authorities in Trumbull and Mahoning counties.

It’s part of the more than $2.7 billion in funding to nearly 2,900 public housing authorities in all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The money will be used to make capital investments in public housing units. This includes $104 million to 49 public housing authorities throughout Ohio.

Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority was provided $ 3,580,093; Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority got $3,182,792.

The housing authorities can use the funding to complete large-scale improvements such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating system and installing water conservation measures.
