WHAT: Board of Education meeting Feb. 17

PRESENT: Tarin Brown, Ken Wallace, Michele Garman, Beth Haddle and James Pegg

The board:

• Tabled for further review granting a 3 percent salary increase for the board of education office and treasurer’s office staff for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years;

• Approved the 2021-22 school calendar with first day for students Aug. 30 and the last day May 31, 2022;

• Approved Pamela Hostetler Herriman as a Title I tutor at $25 per hour for 4.75 hours per week;

• Approved an agreement with the Industrial Appraisal Co. at $2,930 for inventory and appraisal services;

• Reported students have returned to in-person learning five days per week with block scheduling at the high school continuing. Officials said plans are for all teachers to have their planning period at end of the day with the students’ day starting at 7:15 a.m. and ending at 1:20 p.m. More than 90 percent of high school scheduling is completed for next year;

• Recognized Pegg, who is a senior master sergeant, for his six-month deployment to the Middle East. He returned earlier this month;

• Accepted the resignation of Nicole Kenreigh as language arts instructor at the high school;

• Discussed having water-bottle filling stations for all facilities being built using Ohio School Facilities Commission funds;

• Approved a five-year contract with NEOMIN for managed internet broadband services at $41,740 effective July 1 for the equipment cost for 81 access points, and recurring costs over a five-year period of $3,240 for device management;

• Approved VEC Ohio Inc. to install new data cables for wireless access points and to remove old and install new access points at the three district buildings at $7,515;

• Approved an agreement with Educare for online education services for the second semester at $34,982.
