Howland man reports gold necklace stolen
WARREN — A 27-year-old Howland man offered a ride Sunday by a woman, who later smoked crack while she was driving, told police she stole his gold and diamond necklace worth about $2,100.
The woman offered the man a ride about 10:20 p.m. from Main Avenue SW to a Beechwood Street address. The man, who gave police a Stillwagon Road address, pulled out a wad of money and offered to pay for diapers for the baby that was in the back seat, the report states, and the woman then demanded more money.
When the man refused, the woman sped up the car, going 50 mph near the intersection of Paige Avenue and Elm Road NE, according to the report. As the man attempted to jump out of the vehicle, the driver grabbed his necklace and his shoulder, causing a 4-inch scratch.
The man called another woman to pick him up at the Elm Road Drive Thru. When they got to the Beechwood Street house, the woman driver came to the door with another man who pulled a gun and then left, the report states.
