WHAT: Village council meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Robert Bond, Terry Campbell, Lamar Liming, Ron Ratka, Don Reider, Howard Sheely and Mayor Arno Hill


• Named Ron Hickox as the new street commissioner, effective Feb. 1. He was selected from nine applicants who sought the position when Dale Grimm retired after 30 years of service. He will handle paving projects planned for 2021;

• Approved an easement for ingress and egress from Tri-Mor for construction of an elevated water tank off state Route 45, which will provide water service to the Ultium Cell plant and other nearby businesses;

• Named Carly Jackson as a new firefighter / emergency medical technician effective Jan. 19. Jackson is training to become a paramedic by this spring;

• Approved Sam Wells as a labor / machine operator and Robert Luzzader to a part-time position on board of public affairs, both effective Jan. 19;

• Named Cindy Sluszarcyk as full-time assistant clerk in the water / sewer department and Becky Conn as part-time clerk in the water / sewer department;

• Approved a one-year renewal agreement with GoDaddy for email office accounts for 25 police department employees, including dispatchers, police officers and auxiliary members, at $2,803 per year. Police Chief Brent Milhoan said the current three-year agreement expires Jan. 26 and needs renewed to keep emails active. Bond said the cost seems high for an email. Milhoan said the first three years were less expensive since they were promotional;

• Approved retaining Paul Dutton of Harrington, Hoppe and Mitchell Ltd. as solicitor and Matthew Ries to represent the village in all matters involving sanitary sewer agreements involving Warren and Trumbull County.
