Arson suspected in vehicle fire
WARREN — City police are investigating a possible arson involving a newer model Hyundai Elantra that was found ablaze Wednesday night in a field near Highland Avenue and Sixth Street SW.
The gold vehicle was spotted shortly after 10 p.m. engulfed in flames in the middle of a ring of brush. Police officers said it appeared a flammable substance was poured in a circle about 10 feet out and around the car, the report states.
A neighbor called the fire department after his dog kept barking and he went outside the see the car on fire, the report states.
It had no occupants and it appeared as if the VIN and license plates were removed prior to the fire. The make and model of the vehicle were identified because the rear bumper was preserved, the report states.
