WHAT: Township trustee meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Dennis Kuchta and Jeff Tucker

ABSENT: Aaron Young


• Are checking on flooding issues on private property off Bailey Anderson Road, which may be caused by a nearby beaver dam. Kuchta said trustees have received calls from residents over the flooding;

• Approved Gary’s Tree Service at $750 to remove a tree that fell at the cemetery but did not damage any markers. The township had received a $1,000 state grant from Division of Real Estate to address two trees at the cemetery. One was the dead tree that fell and the other is one that has been leaning;

• Are readvertising for the police chief position, with three applications received. Officer Chad Bernard is serving as interim chief during the search;

• Are looking to see what costs would be involved and traffic accidents stats in the location for adding a street light at Center South Street and state Route 5. Several residents had attended a previous meeting expressing concern how dark the area is at night;

• Approved James Thomas as a patrolman for the police department;

• Will have the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office handle the overweight permit fees and costs for trucks and other vehicles carrying heavy loads such as logs on township roads. The engineer’s office would handle the processing fee and insurance;

• Approved placing radios, pagers, cold water rescue suits, hoses and unit heaters no longer needed on internet auction;

• Received an additional $600 in CARES Act funds;

• Heard from Kuchta that a tree that fell and was blocking traffic on a section of Eagle Creek Road has been removed;

• Set end-of-year meeting for 8 a.m. Dec. 31 and organizational meeting 6 p.m. Jan. 5.
