WHAT: Township trustee meeting Oct. 13

PRESENT: Steve Gerberry, Marvin McBride and Rich Harkins


• Heard from Harkins the 717 Credit Union will unveil its new personal teller machine at the community park off state Route 46. He said a virtual ribbon cutting is set for 10 a.m. Thursday. He said the machine will be an asset to the community;

• Set trick or treat for 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 with residents wanting to participate to leave on outdoor lights;

• Promoted Travis Willoughby from probationary firefighter to firefighter effective Oct. 13;

• Purchased a fire rescue vehicle at cost not to exceed $400,000 to replace an older vehicle, which officials said will be a backup;

• Entered into an agreement with Hudson Radio in Ashtabula at $85,030, which is less than state purchase price, for purchase and installation of MARCs radio repeater equipment for each police cruiser and six fire vehicles;

• Approved the installation of street lights on a portion of Youngstown Warren Road after trustees determined the section of road should be lighted for safety;

• Entered into an agreement with Russell and Phyllis Willrich for removal of trees in the right-of-way on Pittsburgh Avenue for plans to build a house;

• Reported the police department Facebook page provides information to the community on events and emergencies. Officials noted it was not set up for public comments;

• Announced the township is keeping a list of residents interested in switching their electric service to Ohio Edison / FirstEnergy. Those wanting to be on the list can contact the township offices.
