Lakeview, LaBrae identify virus cases

Two Trumbull County school districts reported having COVID-19 cases identified over the weekend.

LaBrae schools Superintendent Anthony Calderone on Sunday placed a notification on the district’s website that a student has tested positive for the virus by the Trumbull County Health Department.

Parents of students who have been in contact with this LaBrae student have been notified and appropriate steps have been taken to address COVID-19-related health issues, the district said.

Calderone said in a letter to parents on the district’s website: ” As more cases are being confirmed across the state, including in our community, it is important to be sensible, but to also be vigilant.”

Lakeview schools Superintendent Velina Jo Taylor announced in a letter to parents: “We want to inform you that we have recently received information about at least one confirmed case of COVID-19 in a student or staff person at Lakeview High School and Lakeview Middle School. Cleaning and disinfecting have been completed.”

Taylor said the district has identified those who may have come into contact with the individual.

Both school districts will maintain their current academic schedules.
