Details released on Donald Trump Jr.’s Valley rally Monday

YOUNGSTOWN — Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, will headline a rally Monday in Youngstown for his father’s re-election campaign.

The Trump campaign Saturday made official what was reported a few days ago that Trump Jr. would be at the Maronite Center at 1555 S. Meridian Road.

The event starts at noon with doors opening at 10:30 a.m.

The campaign wrote in an email that Trump Jr. will share the president’s “Make America Great Again agenda with the American people.”

Youngstown is one of three stops Trump Jr. will make for his father Monday. He’ll also be in Walbridge, Ohio, and Washington, Mich., later that day.

A maximum of two tickets per cellphone number can be obtained online at donaldjtrump.com/events.

Despite records being set the past four days for the most daily reported cases of COVID-19, the Trump campaign said no plans were in place for a limit on the number of people allowed at the rally. There also is no requirement for participants to wear face masks or social distance.

As part of the online sign-up for Monday’s rally is this disclaimer: “By registering for this event, you understand and expressly acknowledge that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. In attending the event, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19, and waive, release, and discharge Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; the host venue; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers from any and all liability under any theory, whether in negligence or otherwise, for any illness or injury.”

Trump Jr.’s most recent Ohio stop was in Steubenville on Thursday, just before the presidential debate.

He spoke for about 30 minutes to about 500 people outside of Bully Tools in the Jefferson County Industrial Park, according to the Herald-Star.

During the speech, Trump Jr. called Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, “the most corrupt person to ever run for the presidency of the United States,” and accused various social media companies of censorship, the newspaper reported.

Polls in Ohio show a close race between Trump and Biden. Trump won Ohio by 8.13 percent in 2016 over Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Trump had a rally Saturday in Circleville while U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris of California, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, campaigned in Cleveland.

To date, Biden, Harris, Trump and Vice President Mike Pence haven’t campaigned in the Mahoning Valley and nothing has been scheduled.

Trump won Trumbull County four years ago by 6.22 percent and lost Mahoning County to Clinton by 3.28 percent. Both previously had voted for the Democratic candidate in every presidential election since 1936 except for 1956 and 1972.
