Akron sex offender admits to offense in Warren
WARREN — An Akron man who is a convicted sex offender on Thursday pleaded guilty to his fourth charge of failure to notify the sheriff of an address change in the last 10 years.
Elmer Hanshaw, 70, of 1256 Grant St., Akron, had been convicted in Trumbull County in 1995 of attempted rape and gross sexual imposition charges. According to assistant Prosecutor Gabriel Wildman, Hanshaw was classified then as a sexual-oriented offender. Wildman said Hanshaw had moved and failed to notify the sheriff of the address change in June 2020. Similar convictions were recorded for Hanshaw in 2010, 2012 and 2017, Wildman said.
Judge Ronald Rice ordered a background investigation be done on Hanshaw before the judge sentences him.
