New York police nab suspect in 2018 killing in Brookfield
BROOKFIELD — New York City police arrested Joseph S. Rosario on a warrant out of Brookfield for the 2018 murder of Jason C. Drummond Jr. of Masury.
The Brookfield Police Department was advised recently by the NYCPD that it had Rosario in custody.
Brookfield Detective Sgt. Aaron Kasiewicz said Rosario, 25, was arrested in Queens on unrelated charges and is currently being held on the Ohio warrant pending extradition.
He said on July 27, 2018, Drummond was shot while driving a vehicle east on Warren Sharon Road and later died at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Drummond, who had lived on Wahabe Court, died from a gunshot wound to the head.
A passenger in the vehicle was able to take control of the vehicle from the passenger side and drive to Brookfield Avenue in Masury, where police were made aware of the crime.
Kasiewicz said the investigation led investigators to Rosario, who officers learned had possibly fled the state when they executed a search warrant on his Masury apartment.
He said an arrest warrant was obtained for Rosario through the Trumbull County Eastern District Court from information that he had fled to New York. The arrest warrant was forwarded to the U.S. Marshals Service and New York City Police Department.
