Navarre man gets 1 year in prison

WARREN — A Navarre man on Tuesday received a one-year prison sentence after being convicted of a gun charge.

Jeffrey J. Peasley, 39, of 3695 Brinker St. SW, Navarre, pleaded guilty before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan to one count of having weapons as a felon.

Prosecutors state the charge stems from a gun being found by Niles police officers in Peasley’s car during an April 22 traffic stop.

Prosecutors said Peasley was not allowed to carry firearms because of his 2001 conviction in Portage County on burglary and attempted robbery charges.
