Important information for Ohio voters

Some incorrect information was provided in today’s Tribune Chronicle voting guide regarding what you may use as identification to vote in Ohio. Here is what you need to know:

Acceptable forms of ID to vote in Ohio are:

An unexpired photo ID issued by the US government or the state of Ohio containing the voter’s current address

Military identification card

Utility bill

Bank statement

Government check or check stub or receipt

Paycheck or check stub or receipt

Unacceptable forms of ID to vote in Ohio are:

Driver’s license or photo identification card issued by a state other than Ohio

Social Security card


Birth certificate, unless voter still lives at the house where they resided at birth, and the birth certificate contains that home address, in which case this is acceptable as an “other government document”;

Insurance card; or

Any registration acknowledgment notice from the county board of elections
