Gun plea leads to 12-month sentence
WARREN — A Warren man on Monday was given a 12-month prison term after he pleaded to three counts of having weapons as a felon.
Howard Winkleman, 45, of 216 Meadowbrook Ave. SE, appeared before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Peter J. Kontos, who also ordered the defendant to forfeit three rifles.
The charge stemmed from an April 4, 2019, incident at Winkleman’s home. He and his wife were arguing, and the wife told police about her husband having illegal weapons, said assistant Prosecutor Charles Morrow. Morrow said Winkleman became a convicted felon after pleading guilty in a 2005 drug trafficking case in Trumbull County.
