Bond revoked for accused rapist
WARREN — A convicted sex offender from Garrettsville, who faces up to life in prison on rape charges linked to assaults of girls ages 9 to 12, had his bond revoked Thursday by a judge.
At a bond hearing, Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice considered Edward Wymer, 32, a threat to society and removed his $500,000 bond.
Wymer had pleaded not guilty Monday in Common Pleas Court to eight counts of gross sexual imposition and two counts of rape that carry a potential life sentence.
Prosecutors said the charges carry violent sexual predator specifications. They said Wymer originally was convicted of rape in 2002 when he was a juvenile.
The alleged sex acts took place in various Trumbull County communities over a two-year span that began in February 2018, according to the indictment.
