WHAT: Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities meeting July 27

PRESENT: Dominic Albanese, Elizabeth Calderone, Mary Cunningham, Mauro DiVieste, Kevin Reilly and Superintendent Ed Stark

ABSENT: Jodi Glasser and Larry Larson

The board:

– Heard from Stark of plans for the opening of the 2020-21 school year with the first day for students on Aug. 20. He said the students will be placed in two groups with “Cohort A” attending Mondays and Tuesdays, and “Cohort B” attending Thursdays and Fridays. All students will have online learning Wednesdays, when the school will be closed for cleaning. Stark said students will do online learning and other provided work when not in school and have access to their teachers to ask questions. Stark said there will be no gym or swimming classes, and students will eat their breakfast and lunch in their classrooms. Staff and students will wear masks;

– Hired Corey Stephens as an assistant principal on a one-year contract at $62,000 through August 2021, replacing Sandra Kernen who was promoted to the position of principal;

– Hired Patricia Koehnlein as service / support administrator on a one-year contract at $45,000 through August 2021, replacing Mary Ellen LeMasters who was promoted to investigative agent;

– Hired Patricia Beckley-Bauer as service / support administrator on a one-year contract at $55,000 through August 2021, with the vacancy transitioned from a vacant adult services position;

– Accepted the resignation of Dorothy Wolfe as nine-month bus driver, effective June 30.
