WHAT: Township trustee meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Rebecca Whitman, Mike Bridge and Phil Wilhelm


– Approved placing the renewal of the 2-mill, five-year fire levy on the Nov. 3 ballot to provide funds for day-to-day operations and needs of the fire department. Whitman said the money also is used to pay Brookfield Township, which has its fire department provide fire and emergency medical service to Hartford. Fiscal officer Kristine Wilson said the levy will generate approximately $87,436 in the first year of collection based upon the current valuation of the township;

– Approved Chris Baker Building at $9,300 for framing work for the new community center to be constructed at the township center park. Work on the frame will begin Aug. 17;

– Set tire collection noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at the township center;

– Approved reseeding the walking path at the center at $678 with township employees doing the work;

– Announced the annual Hartford Apple Festival has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic;

– Purchased shingles for the community center building at $6,678 from Carter Lumber in Middlefield;

– Approved allowing the fiscal officer to purchase a laptop and accessories for when she does work out of town at up to $1,000.
