On the record- Braceville

WHAT: Township trustee meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Dennis Kuchta, Aaron Young and Jeff Tucker

Trustees:

– Accepted the resignation of police Chief Joshua Rudesill who accepted a full-time police officer position with Champion, where he had worked part-time for three years. Rudesill has been with the department since October 2009. Trustees are seeking applicants through Aug. 14 for a new part-time police chief;

– Approved payment of $4,481 for the demolition of 5314 Shanks Phalanx Road, which was made possible with assistance from the Trumbull County Council of Governments. Officials noted if they did not have help from COG, the cost for demolition of the structure would have been twice as much;

– Heard from police they have received numerous calls from residents about a house in the 1000 block of Braceville Robinson Road where large crowds have been gathering — often as many as 20 — causing various problems. Officials noted reports in the past month of a pet monkey from the same house running loose in the area;

– Accepted a $4,000 grant for the fire department for firefighter training;

– Set the scrap tire collection for Sept. 11 and 12 at the road department garage;

– Announced the community wide garage sales will be Friday to Sunday with no permits needed. Those holding garage sales are asked to follow social-distancing guidelines.
