Man pleads guilty to hitting man with car

YOUNGSTOWN — Thomas E. Poyssick Jr., 21, of North Turner Road in Austintown, pleaded guilty Monday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to attempted felonious assault for intentionally hitting an Austintown man with his vehicle, causing the victim to fly about 30 feet.

The incident was at Meridian Drive-thru in February. A drive-thru employee told police she saw an upset woman with a bloody face get out of Poyssick’s car. Poyssick brushed the car against the woman, trying to strike her, according to the witness.

The employee brought the woman into the office, and Poyssick returned and tried to get inside. Customers intervened, and Poyssick left, only to return and strike the 36-year-old man with his vehicle, according to the report.

Poyssick could get about eight years in prison when he is sentenced Sept. 28.
