Falls native is topic of WWII presentation

WARREN — The Trumbull County Historical Society will present a program on World War II at 2 p.m. Sunday via Zoom.

Author Andy Olson will present “World War II Through Local Eyes in the Headquarters Sixth Army,” which will focus on Newton Falls native Tom Kistler, who rose in the ranks from a private to a first lieutenant in February 1945. Kistler was a staff member of Gen. Walter Krueger, who was handpicked by Douglas MacArthur to command the Sixth Army as it made its way along the 1,500-mile shoreline of New Guinea.
