Warren murder suspect arrested

AUSTINTOWN — A man wanted in the June 29 shooting of Robert Johnson in Warren’s Quinby Park was arrested late Tuesday morning in the township.

Charles Parker, 24, was arrested by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in the 4600 block of Deer Creek Court. He is facing a murder charge and is being held at the Trumbull County jail without bond, according to jail records.

According to police, on June 29, Parker was involved in a verbal altercation with Johnson in Quinby Park. Parker left the area, only to return and shoot Johnson numerous times, police said.

Johnson, of 2325 Burton St. SE, had been at a party in the park where 30 to 50 people — including children — were present, according to a police report. His death makes the 12th homicide for the city this year.

Parker has been booked into the Trumbull County jail nine times before, mostly on charges related to drug possession and weapons, jail records show.
