Sen. Portman visiting Valley today
LORDSTOWN — U.S. Sen. Rob Portman is visiting the Mahoning Valley today with stops in Lordstown and Youngstown.
Portman, a Cincinnati-area Republican, first will stop at Lordstown Motors Corp. to tour the company’s plant and look at its Endurance all-electric pickup truck.
The company unveiled the truck during a June 25 event at the former Lordstown General Motors assembly plant that included a visit and speech by Vice President Mike Pence.
After Lordstown, Portman will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley on Salt Springs Road in Youngstown.
There, Portman will meet with the organization’s leadership to discuss the senator’s support for COVID-19 bills, including those that provided funding for nutrition programs and additional flexibilities to allow food to be distributed efficiently and with social distancing.
