WHAT: Trumbull Career / Technical Center Board of Education meeting Thursday

PRESENT: Susan Longacre, Cheryl Basista, Brooke Vondrasek, Ronda Bonekovic , Kelly Boyle, Sue Ellen Harris-Davis, Scott Lehman, John Phillips, Tim Gibson, Don Galbreath, Diana De Vito, Carla Click, Dan Denman, James Koehler, Tom Hart, Debra Davis, Albert Haberstroh and Robert Faulkner

ABSENT: Aaron Brazofsky and Linda Silvidi

The board:

• Hired Daniel Stirling as a landscape design / technology instructor at $52,970, replacing Raul Kempe who retired; and Bradley Ronyak as auto collision technology instructor at $50,027, replacing Randy Hess who retired. Both are one-year contracts. Ronyak had taught at Choffin Career Center in Youngstown;

• Hired Tiffany Ziegler-Streeter as an adult education director at $80,000 effective Aug. 1;

• Accepted the retirement of Heather Randall, paraprofessional who served 18 years, effective June 1;

• Accepted the retirement of Patricia Gaydos, cafeteria, who served 35 years, effective July 1;

• Approved Alice Demas, Cassandra Clark, Patricia Hawkins and Lisa Wargo as licensed practical nurses at $28 per hour;

• Approved a policy on blended learning programs, which is expanded educational opportunities;

• Approved the job description for community engagement coordinator, who will address recruitment and enrollment issues, public relations, marketing and advertising, student tours / visits and work with local employers;

• Heard from Treasurer Cody Holecko the district will receive $112,000 in CARES Act funding for adult education to be used for anything coronavirus related, such as sanitizing supplies;

• Approved $1,834 to the Ohio Coalition for Equity and Adequacy for the 2020-21 year for fair funding for school districts;

• Approved liability, violence, cyber, fleet, pollution and property insurance with the Ohio School Plan for $65,584 for one year, effective July 1;

• Announced there will be no meeting in July, with the next meeting set for 7 p.m. Aug. 13 where the board will act on salary schedule for administrators.
