Cortland man found with Youngstown teen runaway

CORTLAND — Nicholas Hedrick, 20, of Cortland, was booked into the Trumbull County jail Wednesday afternoon after being found with a 15-year-old runaway girl from Youngstown earlier that day.

Cortland police got a tip that Hedrick was with the girl and they found the pair on Greenbriar Drive near Southdale Boulvard, according to police Chief David Morris. They confirmed the 15-year-old was the Youngstown runaway.

“During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that she and Mr. Hedrick had been involved in a sexual relationship, which is obviously not permitted under Ohio law,” Morris said.

The girl was returned to her family.

Hedrick was charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and interference with custody. He is being held at the jail on a $12,000 bond, and is ordered to have no contact with the victim, court records show.

Hedrick is due back in the Trumbull County Central District Court at 9 a.m. July 15.
