Boy runs with crack pipe during mom’s arrest
WARREN — A woman is facing a charge of child endangering after police said her 6-year-old son grabbed a crack pipe and ran around the parking lot of of a grocery store Thursday evening.
Jhordan E. Murray, 28, 4845 Fariground Road, Atwater, was arrested outside of Aldi, 2774 Parkman Road, after a caller reported a couple in a gold Ford Taurus that could barely talk or walk had a young child with them.
While an officer was placing Murray in a cruiser, her 6-year-old son jumped from the back seat of the car and grabbed a glass crack pipe off the driver’s seat and began running around the parking lot, according to a police report.
Officers noticed a hypodermic syringe shoved up Murray’s pantleg, and found suspected fentanyl and a second syringe in the car. In addition to child endangering, Murry is facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug abuse instruments. She is being held at the Trumbull County jail on a $7,500 bond, according to jail records.
The boy was turned over to Portage County Children Services, the report states.
