Woman reports being raped
WARREN — An 18-year-old woman told police she was raped by a man who volunteered to show her how to get to St. Joseph Warren Hospital, according to a police report.
The woman told police she was walking to the hospital early Saturday morning from Garden Street because her boyfriend was taken there earlier by ambulance, and she was not allowed to ride along.
When she stopped to ask a man she didn’t know for directions, he offered to walk her to the hospital but instead took her back to his apartment in the area of Summit Street NW and Tod Avenue NW, claiming he wanted to stop to get something to drink, the report says.
There, the man assaulted her. The woman feared for her life, according to the report.
Police were called to the 1300 block of East Market Street, where they spoke to the woman and took her to the hospital around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Police are investigating.
