Harry Stevens Hot Dog celebration canceled

NILES — Harry Stevens Hot Dog Day, usually celebrated in the last week of June, has been canceled, according to the hot dog day committee.

Harry Stevens Hot Dog Day celebrates Stevens, an English-born Niles resident who is hailed as the champion of the modern concession stand and is credited with introducing the hot dog as a staple at baseball games in the late 1800s.

The celebration is expected to resume as usual next year.
