Grant funds more testing

ONE Health Ohio given $436,324

YOUNGSTOWN — ONE Health Ohio was awarded a $436,324 federal grant to help fund the expansion of COVID-19 testing capacity.

ONE Health, based in Youngstown, was among 51 health centers in the state to receive a portion of $17.4 million in grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the federal CARES Act, said U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a Cincinnati-area Republican.

ONE Health offers medical, dental and behavioral health services at locations in Youngstown, Warren, Cortland, Newton Falls and Alliance.

“Continued and increased testing, especially in our underserved communities like the centers support, is essential as we begin to reopen the economy because it helps us know where the disease is and how it may be spreading,” Portman said.

The Community Action Agency of Columbiana County received a $252,064 grant to expand COVID-19 testing.

ONE Health also received a $67,000 grant in March from Health and Human Services to provide COVID-19 screenings, medical supplies and telehealth services.
