8 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Valley

The Mahoning Valley reported eight COVID-19 deaths Wednesday — four each in Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

Trumbull County had no deaths Wednesday. The last reported COVID-19 fatality in the county was Saturday.

Overall, there have been 248 COVID-19 deaths as of Wednesday in the Valley: 160 in Mahoning, 39 in Trumbull and 49 in Columbiana.

There have been 1,781 COVID-19 deaths in the state as of Wednesday, up from 1,720 a day prior.

Ohio confirmed 29,436 cases of the virus Wednesday, up from 28,952 Tuesday.

Locally, 1,262 cases have been confirmed in Mahoning County as of Wednesday, up from 1,247 Tuesday; 481 cases in Trumbull County as of Wednesday, up from 469 Tuesday; and 457 cases as of Wednesday in Columbiana County, up from 453 a day earlier.

Statewide, 5,198 people have been hospitalized as of Wednesday because of the virus, up from 5,117 Tuesday. Of those, 1,369 people had been in intensive-care units as of Wednesday, up from 1,357 Tuesday.
