Drug defendant gets indefinite prison term

WARREN — A Warren man received an indefinite three- to four-and a-half-year sentence on a conviction in a seven-count felony drug case.

David J. Adams, 35, of 385 Oak Knoll Ave. SE, apologized to his children before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice pronounced sentence. Adams on March 6 pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking in cocaine, three counts of possession of cocaine and having weapons as a felon charge. Rice told Adams that if he follows the rules in prison, he will be released after three years.

Adams was charged Sept. 27, 2018, after an investigation by the sheriff’s drug task force. Rice refused the request by Adams’s attorney David Engler to delay sentencing because of the risk of COVID-19 in prison.
